Health
Group insurance is available to all full-time employees and their dependents. Medical, dental, vision, life, short-term disability, long-term disability and flex spending. Employees and their dependents are eligible for health benefits on the first day of the month following their employment.

Life
Southern Community Bank provides life insurance for eligible employees equal to 2 ½ times the employee's annual salary up to a maximum of $350,000 as well as a $10,000 policy plus accidental death and dismemberment coverage.

Southern Community Bank 401(k) Plan
Southern Community Bank provides a 401(k) plan which gives eligible employees an opportunity to save for retirement on a pre-tax basis.

  • Eligibility is the first day of the month following employment
  • Choice of investment portfolios for your contributions
  • Southern Community Bank will match employee contributions 75% up to 6% of the employee's compensation
  • Five year vesting schedule

Social Security
Social Security provides benefits for employees and their families as specified by law and an employee may be eligible for Social Security at any age, depending upon the circumstances. Contact your local Social Security Office for details.

Education Assistance
Southern Community Bank recognizes that the skills and knowledge of its employees are critical to the success of the organization. The education assistance program encourages personal development through education so that employees can maintain and improve job-related skills.

  • Educational assistance through an accredited institution
  • Eligible employees have completed one year of service and are currently employed and are performing their job satisfactorily
  • Courses are related to the employee's current job duties or foreseeable future position in the bank
  • Tuition reimbursement covers fees and book charges for employees successfully completing the course
